Manchester United star wants to leave before deadline

Manchester United enter the final days of the summer transfer window with several squad decisions still unresolved.

Michael Carrick has already reshaped his midfield after bringing in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer.

United have also seen Casemiro leave after his contract expired, while Rasmus Hojlund completed a permanent move to Napoli.

However, further movement remains possible before the deadline as Carrick continues adjusting his squad ahead of the new campaign.

The Red Devils finished third in the Premier League last season after Carrick oversaw an impressive second-half recovery.

They collected 41 points from 19 matches after the turn of the year and secured Champions League qualification.

United have since experienced a mixed preseason, including victories over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid before losing 4-2 against AC Milan.

Attention has now returned to the transfer market, where another attacking departure could take shape before the window closes.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Joshua Zirkzee wants to leave Manchester United and prefers a move to Juventus this summer.

The Italian club have identified the striker as a priority and have already discussed the structure of a potential transfer.

Juventus and Manchester United have spoken about an initial loan deal, although the Premier League club want stronger guarantees.

The parties have therefore discussed including an obligation to buy, which would make the arrangement more attractive for United. Joshua Zirkzee also has interest from Napoli, but the forward currently favours a switch to Turin.

The 25-year-old joined Manchester United from Bologna in 2024 but struggled to establish himself consistently at Old Trafford.

His involvement also decreased during the second half of last season after Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as manager.

Roma previously explored a move for Zirkzee, although United’s refusal to approve a straightforward loan prevented that transfer.

Juventus now appear to offer another possible route back to Serie A before the deadline. Zirkzee is reportedly waiting for Juventus to make their next move while United consider possible replacements.
