Manchester United are preparing for a major midfield rebuild this summer. The departure of Casemiro will leave a huge gap in the middle of the park.
And the Red Devils know they must get the next move right. They are looking to make more than one signing in the middle of the park due to uncertainty around Manuel Ugarte.
United are not only looking for a direct replacement but also planning to reshape the entire midfield unit ahead of next season. They initially explored options within the Premier League.
However, things have not gone according to plan. Elliot Anderson is now closer to Manchester City, while Adam Wharton is not seen as the ideal fit due to similarities with Kobbie Mainoo.
That has forced the recruitment team to look elsewhere. Now, attention has shifted towards Real Madrid.
According to James Ducker from The Telegraph, United are closely monitoring Aurelien Tchouameni, who fits the exact profile they want.
Interestingly, the Frenchman replaced Casemiro at Real Madrid back in 2022. Now, United are considering reversing that move by bringing him to Old Trafford.
At 26, he is entering his prime and has already won multiple trophies in Spain. But a deal will not be easy.
Real Madrid are not actively looking to sell and would only consider letting him leave if they secure a replacement.
Tchouameni is currently valued at around €75million, though that figure could rise depending on performances and World Cup exposure.
For now, United are watching closely. And as the summer window approaches, this is one situation that could develop quickly.
🚨 Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouameni has been added to Manchester United’s midfield target shortlist as the club prepare to replace Casemiro.
His future could hinge on whether Rodri leaves Manchester City in the summer.
