Arsenal secured the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer, 12 months on from the Spaniard rejecting a move to Liverpool.
Arriving for £60 million, he became one of the club’s most expensive transfers of all-time.
Zubimendi has made a good start to life at the Emirates, with two goals in seven Premier League games since joining Arsenal this summer.
He has allowed teammate Declan Rice to roam further forward and is a similar mould of player to that we have seen over the years with Rodri and Sergio Busquets.
Depth has often been a concern for Arsenal fans in recent years, with this being viewed as a key protagonist to their shortcomings.
However, the addition of Zubimendi could change all of that for the red half of North London.
Recently, Zubimendi has been vocal on his decision to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
Martin Zubimendi reveals reason for Arsenal move
Speaking to the Guardian this week, Zubimendi spoke on his reasoning for making the move to Arsenal this summer.
“I had watched Arsenal and I liked everything I saw.
“In terms of passion, youth, the feeling you got watching them… they’re perfect for me”
Arsenal have been on the cusp of finally re-claiming the Premier League title that was so often theirs, as they search for their first since their 2003/04 Invincible’s team .
Could the addition of Zubimendi be the key that unlocks the title sealing door for the Gunners?
