Mason Mount to AC Milan transfer truth revealed

Mount joined Manchester United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

Manchester United enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 Premier League campaign. Michael Carrick guided the Red Devils to a third-place finish and secured a return to the UEFA Champions League.

The club has also wasted little time in the transfer market. United are very close to signing Ederson from Atalanta, while several senior players have left Old Trafford this summer.

However, speculation has continued around the futures of several first-team players. Mason Mount is one of the latest names to attract transfer interest.

Recent reports from Italy suggested that AC Milan wanted to sign the England international.

The rumours gathered pace after former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim became Milan’s new head coach.

Amorim remains a huge admirer of Mount. MilanPress even claimed that information had been exchanged over a possible transfer worth around £21.5 million.

However, a fresh report has now poured cold water on those claims. According to the Manchester Evening News, AC Milan have not contacted Mount’s representatives at this stage.

The report also states that the midfielder wants to produce his best season for Manchester United in 2026-27.

Mount currently trains in Spain with an individual coach. He missed out on England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and will return for Manchester United’s pre-season on July 9.

The Red Devils will face Wrexham, Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds United and AC Milan before the new campaign begins.

Mount joined Manchester United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. He signed a five-year contract with the option of another 12 months.

Injuries have disrupted his time at Old Trafford. He has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 72 appearances for the club.

Last season, Mount made 25 appearances in all competitions. He scored three goals and registered one assist.

A strong pre-season could now help Mount force his way into Carrick’s plans. For now, though, the reported move to AC Milan appears to have little substance behind it.
