According to TEAMtalk, Mikel Arteta has personally contacted Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers in an effort to convince him to move to the Emirates Stadium.
The report adds that the Arsenal manager’s pitch has impressed the 23-year-old as negotiations continue.
Arsenal are now confident they can beat both Chelsea and Manchester City to the England international’s signature.
However, Aston Villa have not indicated whether they are prepared to sell one of their key players this summer. Any deal is expected to cost more than £100 million.
Rogers played a major role in Aston Villa’s successful campaign last season. He helped the club win the UEFA Europa League and secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
The midfielder also produced 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. Chelsea also remain interested in the midfielder.
The report claims the London club could step up their pursuit if Enzo Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge. For now, though, Arsenal appear to hold the advantage.
