Napoli officially sign Manchester United striker

Napoli board will be looking to back Massimiliano Allegri.

Napoli have now officially signed a Manchester United striker.

After a disappointing campaign where they failed to retain the Scudetto and also got eliminated in the first round of the Champions League, Napoli will be looking to bounce back under Massimiliano Allegri.

Antonio Conte left the role as the Napoli manager at the end of the season, and the Serie A giants appointed Allegri, who lost his job as the AC Milan manager after a poor season.

Now, the Napoli board will be looking to back him. And the first thing they have done is seal an agreement to permanently sign Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.

Hojlund revived his career after he made the switch to Naples after a forgettable outing with the Red Devils in England.

The Dane joined United from Atalanta on a deal worth €75 million with €10 million in performance-related add-ons.

However, Manchester United had to sell him for €44 million to Napoli. However, the total fee could be calculated as €50 million because of the €6 million loan fee that Napoli paid for the initial loan.

Now, the loan agreement had an obligation to buy clause. It meant that if Napoli qualified for the Champions League, they would have to buy Hojlund on a permanent deal.

Once they secured Champions League football, it was only a matter of time before they would make the deal official.

Hojlund will have a contract until 2030 with Napoli and will earn €5 million per year. Also, Napoli have reportedly inserted a release clause worth €85 million.

The Danish international scored 26 goals for United after appearing for the Red Devils 95 times. He won the FA Cup with United in 2024.

For Napoli, Hojlund has scored 16 goals in 42 appearances and also won the Supercoppa Italiana.
