Arsenal head into the new season as Premier League champions after ending their 22-year wait for the title under Mikel Arteta.
Although the Gunners fell to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the Champions League final, the club has continued strengthening its squad this summer.
Christos Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge to reinforce the attack. Meanwhile, Illan Meslier joined on a free transfer, and Piero Hincapie completed a permanent move.
Arsenal have also agreed a deal for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes. Pre-season preparations have produced mixed results.
Arsenal defeated MK Dons and Girona before suffering a 3-1 defeat to Real Betis.
The Gunners will now complete their preparations against Borussia Dortmund and Como before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Further changes could still arrive before the transfer window shuts.
According to TEAMtalk, Gabriel Jesus has emerged as a leading target for Napoli as Arsenal push to complete the striker’s departure this summer.
The Brazilian has entered the final year of his contract. And he has slipped down Arteta’s attacking pecking order behind Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz.
Arsenal are therefore keen to secure a permanent sale rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.
The report states that Arsenal have set an asking price of £18-20 million. Napoli have already made contact with the player’s representatives as they explore a move.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side reportedly view Jesus as a possible addition if they can part ways with Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Lucca.
Interest is not limited to Napoli. AC Milan and Juventus are also monitoring the situation, while Atletico Madrid have previously held discussions.
Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Besiktas have explored a move as well, although Arsenal are not interested in a loan deal.
A permanent transfer remains the club’s preferred outcome, with the sale would free up wages and create additional room in the squad.
