There is an air of urgency in East London. After a season that promised much and delivered little, West Ham United is preparing for a significant summer of change.
The results have not met expectations, and with Graham Potter in charge, the focus has turned sharply to the transfer window.
A 14th-place finish, combined with early cup exits, has led to tough conversations at boardroom level.
Potter is known for his methodical style and progressive football with clear ideas.
However, implementing them will require not just ambition but also financial flexibility, something that cannot be achieved without sacrifices.
To free up funds and comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, West Ham executives are reportedly open to parting ways with a key player.
The decision, while difficult, aligns with a broader restructuring plan, and the player in question could fetch a fee north of £70 million; more than enough to spark a chain reaction of new arrivals.
Several sides are monitoring the situation closely. One, in particular, has quietly moved into pole position.
Their manager has been on the lookout for depth on the right flank and has already drawn up a shortlist.
If a deal for his primary target fails to materialise, this Premier League talent could quickly become priority number one.
Now, according to Football Insider, the name under discussion is that of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus.
After a season of mixed returns at West Ham, the 24-year-old could be on the move, with Newcastle United showing strong interest.
With rival bids expected from Saudi Arabia, the Magpies will need to act quickly if they are to land their man.
Nothing is final yet, but the groundwork is being laid. And as the summer unfolds, the next few weeks could bring a fresh twist in a developing transfer saga.
