Newcastle United reject Arsenal’s latest offer for Bruno Guimaraes

Reports suggest Guimaraes wants to move to north London.

Bruno Guimaraes enjoyed another outstanding season for Newcastle United. The Brazilian midfielder scored nine goals and provided five assists in 29 Premier League appearances.

He remained one of the Magpies’ most influential players throughout the campaign. The 28-year-old also impressed for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Guimaraes registered four assists before Brazil suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16. His performances further enhanced his reputation among Europe’s top clubs.

Arsenal have now emerged as the strongest contenders for his signature.

Reports suggest Guimaraes wants to move to north London after Newcastle missed out on European football and Eddie Howe left the club. Talks between the two clubs have continued in recent weeks.

But they have not reached a full agreement over the structure of the proposed deal.

According to Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, Newcastle United have rejected Arsenal’s latest formal offer for Bruno Guimaraes.

However, direct talks remain advanced, with both clubs still discussing the add-ons. The latest rejection has not ended negotiations.

Arsenal continue working with Newcastle as they try to reach a compromise over the overall package. Guimaraes recently arrived at Newcastle’s pre-season training camp in La Manga.

He is also due to hold further discussions with the club about his future before the new season begins.

Newcastle are rebuilding after a disappointing campaign. The Magpies finished 12th in the Premier League and missed out on European qualification.

They have already sold Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier during the current transfer window.

Guimaraes could become another major departure before the market closes. His exit would continue Newcastle’s summer rebuild under new head coach Matthias Jaissle.

Jaissle has already joined the squad in Spain after replacing Howe. Newcastle also lost 4-1 to Bristol City during pre-season.

The new manager now faces a short period to prepare his squad before the Premier League opener against Liverpool.
