Next summer, there will be a transfer battle for Elliot Anderson, and Nottingham Forest know this. Now, initially, they were asking for a fee of around £100 million.
However, recent reports have revealed the minimum price one club has to pay to sign the former Newcastle United midfielder.
Anderson has been enjoying a stunning rise since his 2024 move to Forest for £35 million. Eddie Howe knew his potential.
But the Magpies had to sell him as they had to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Since the move, Elliot Anderson has become a key player for Forest. And his performances have earned him a call-up to the England squad.
The former Newcastle midfielder has caught the eyes of several top clubs with his ball progression and defensive work.
As of now, he has won over 220 duels and recovered possession over 230 times. At Newcastle, he was more of a number 10.
However, since his move to Nottingham Forest, he has made a swift transition to a more number 8 or 6. His versatility makes him a top choice for multiple clubs looking to sign a midfielder.
And the two Manchester clubs are leading the race currently. Recently, Elliot Anderson also revealed the club for which he would like to play.
But at that time, Champions League football was a key factor. Manchester City are in second place, and they have a high chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
However, Manchester United are right behind them. And recently, Jamie Carragher has backed them to book their place in the Champions League next season.
So, it looks increasingly likely that Elliot Anderson will leave next summer with Nottingham Forest battling relegation.
Now, they have set a minimum asking price for their midfielder. According to The Mirror, both City and United must pay a minimum of £75 million to sign Elliot Anderson.
But if Nottingham Forest get relegated, that price should come down, as both clubs will not be paying that amount to sign a midfielder from a relegated club.
Also, Manchester United have already found their alternative target if they fail to secure Elliot Anderson’s deal.
