Manchester United have made midfield one of their biggest priorities this summer.
Michael Carrick guided the Red Devils back into the Champions League after securing a third-place Premier League finish last season.
However, the club’s hierarchy believe more quality is still needed before the new campaign begins. The rebuild has already gathered pace.
Manchester United completed the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Karl Darlow also arrived on a free transfer to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
Even so, the work in midfield is not finished. The Red Devils remain determined to add another central midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Manu Kone remains on the club’s shortlist, while Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni have also attracted interest. However, another experienced option has now emerged.
According to TuttoSport, Douglas Luiz dreams of joining Manchester United this summer as he looks to revive his career in the Premier League.
The Brazilian returned to Juventus after Aston Villa decided not to activate their option to sign him permanently.
His future in Turin remains uncertain, with the Serie A club now willing to sanction his departure. The report claims Juventus value the 28-year-old at around €30 million.
Manchester United continue to assess midfield options as INEOS push to deliver another signing for Carrick before the transfer deadline. Luiz has now become one of the names under consideration.
The report also claims Juventus and Manchester United could explore a swap agreement involving Joshua Zirkzee.
The Dutch forward remains a target for the Italian club after an inconsistent spell at Old Trafford. A deal involving both players could benefit each side. For now, Luiz’s priority remains clear.
The Brazilian reportedly wants to wear the Manchester United shirt and hopes the Premier League giants can offer him the opportunity to restart his career at the highest level.
