It has been an eventful summer for Manchester United.
There have been several additions to the team, including Benjamin Šeško, who officially signed today.
Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha also arrived at United, joining from Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
United have also seen many player departures.
Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen have all left, with Marcus Rashford joining FC Barcelona on a loan spell.
In manager Ruben Amorim‘s first summer as United manager, there appears to be a major overhaul, with one player’s future at the club even more uncertain.
Preseason game signals Manchester United player exit
In today’s preseason game against Fiorentina, United striker Rasmus Højlund did not feature.
United unveiled three of their new signings to the Old Trafford crowd in Mbuemo, Šeško and Cunha.
Under Amorim, who did not sign Højlund, their new attacking options were there to see.
With no involvement today and no news of any injury, it appears that Højlund‘s time may be up at Old Trafford.
This would signal the end of disappointing spell at the club.
Højlund arrived from Atalanta two summers ago for a fee of £72 million but has failed to live up to this price tag.
Whilst he has 11 goals in 21 European fixtures, he has scored just 14 times in 62 league appearances for the club.
AC Milan are reportedly interested in acquiring Højlund‘s services.
Whilst it would be very hard for United to recoup the £72 million transfer fee spent on the Danish international, a return to Serie A could be a welcomed one for Højlund‘s career.
At the age of 22, there is plenty of time for Højlund to turn his career around.
This may just not be with the red half of Manchester.
🚨⚠️ Zero minutes for Rasmus Højlund today against Fiorentina, clear message coming from Man United.
As revealed two days ago, the club is prepared to let him leave on initial loan for €6m fee with salary covered plus buy option clause.
