On June 5th, Rangers announced the arrival of former player Russell Martin as manager.
Martin played for the Scottish side on loan during his 16-year playing career.
He made 17 appearances for the club and scored one goal, whilst on loan from Norwich City in 2018.
Since retiring, he has gone into management.
After ending his career playing for Milton Keynes Dons, he managed them from 2019 to 2021 before spells in charge of Swansea City, Southampton and now Rangers.
His time at Southampton came to a disappointing end.
Six and a half months after guiding the Saints back to the top flight, he was sacked with the club bottom of the Premier League table.
They had earned one win in the first 16 games before his dismissal.
He will look to repair his managerial reputation in Glasgow with Rangers.
Lyall Cameron has arrived via a pre-contract agreement and Óscar Cortés made his loan move permanent just days before Martin’s arrival.
His first official signing as manager of the club looks to be imminent.
Rangers set to seal Bournemouth defender loan deal
It has been reported that Rangers are close to signing Bournemouth’s Max Aarons.
Formerly of Norwich City, Aarons is set to arrive on a loan deal.
Aarons played in Valencia in 2025 on another loan transfer, and his future on the South Coast of England looks to be over.
He will hope to have an active role in Rangers’ search to once again be Scottish Premier League champions.
They have just won the domestic title just four times since the 2004/05 season.
They also have a UEFA Champions League qualifier to content with.
A two-legged second qualifying qualifier against Greek side Panathinaikos is to take place in the final two weeks of July.
The prospect of playing European Football is likely to have played a part in Aaron’s decision to move to Rangers.
