Bournemouth reach decision on selling Alex Scott to Chelsea in January

The Blues may make early progress with Bournemouth in an attempt to position themselves favourably.

Chelsea remain determined to strengthen their midfield after failing to complete another addition during the summer transfer window.

The Blues targeted Alex Scott as they searched for reinforcements following Enzo Fernandez’s £125 million departure to Manchester City.

Chelsea submitted an offer worth more than £60 million for the Bournemouth midfielder, but the Cherries rejected their approach.

Xabi Alonso’s side have maintained their interest, with midfield recruitment remaining an important consideration ahead of the January window.

However, Chelsea have now received a clear indication about their chances of completing a mid-season deal for the England international.

According to Flashscore, Bournemouth intend to reject any immediate January approach from Chelsea for Alex Scott.

Sources believe the 23-year-old will remain with Bournemouth for the entire season despite expectations of further enquiries.

The Cherries currently value Scott internally at more than £95 million, further complicating Chelsea’s pursuit.

Chelsea still regard the midfielder as a leading target but ideally want to complete a midfield signing during January.

That could force the Blues to consider alternative options if Bournemouth maintain their position throughout the winter window.

Roma midfielder Manu Kone represents one possibility, while Monaco’s Lamine Camara could return to Chelsea’s consideration.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is another Premier League option attracting interest from the Stamford Bridge club.

However, Chelsea could also begin laying the groundwork for a future agreement involving Scott rather than abandoning their pursuit.

The Blues may make early progress with Bournemouth in an attempt to position themselves favourably for a summer transfer.

Chelsea are expected to explore their different midfield options before January to establish which potential deals are achievable.

For Scott, Bournemouth’s current position remains firm despite Chelsea continuing to show significant interest.

The Cherries expect him to complete the 2026/27 campaign with the club, potentially pushing Chelsea’s pursuit towards next summer.
