Real Madrid star rejects Liverpool transfer

A winter loan could still become possible if regular playing time proves difficult during the first half of the season.

Liverpool are rebuilding their squad after a deeply disappointing 2025-26 campaign that ended without a trophy.

The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League before Arne Slot left his position at the end of May.

Liverpool also lost several important players during the summer, including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.

Andoni Iraola has since taken charge and started reshaping the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

However, Liverpool still want attacking reinforcements after losing considerable experience from their forward line during the summer.

The club have explored several options, while negotiations for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh have proved difficult.

That situation encouraged Liverpool to look elsewhere as they considered adding another young attacker before the transfer deadline.

Real Madrid have also faced decisions over several squad players following Jose Mourinho’s arrival for his second spell in charge.

Competition for attacking places has increased, particularly after Carlos Espi impressed during pre-season and strengthened his position.

According to Sport, Real Madrid forward Endrick has rejected Liverpool’s interest because he wants to remain in Madrid and fight for his place.

Liverpool made another enquiry about the Brazilian during the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

However, Endrick chose to stay despite having the option to seek another temporary move away from Real Madrid.

Aston Villa had previously explored a loan, while Roma also encountered a similar rejection from the 20-year-old.

Endrick spent time on loan at Lyon last season, but Real Madrid allowed him to decide his future this summer.

The Brazilian played three pre-season matches and scored once against Fiorentina before suffering a minor muscle problem.

Mourinho has worked closely with Endrick and indicated that he could still become useful during a long campaign.
