Tottenham Hotspur are quietly making plans to strengthen their attack this summer, and one name has started to emerge in their discussions.
After one of the most disappointing Premier League campaigns in recent memory, Spurs know they need to bring in fresh firepower to climb back up the table.
Their recruitment team has been in talks with several clubs, exploring options to boost their forward line.
Interest has focused on a player who has impressed in the Championship and carried that form into the Premier League after Brentford’s promotion.
It is no secret that Manchester United have also been tracking this forward’s progress.
United submitted a second and improved bid after an initial £45 million offer was turned down.
The player and his camp have already agreed personal terms with United, but the two clubs have yet to agree on a fee.
That offer from United is believed to be around £50 million upfront plus £10 million in add-ons, in a bid to solve their goal-scoring issues and add a proven marksman to their squad.
Now, according to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are ready to step in. Their interest is linked to the imminent appointment of Thomas Frank, who knows the player well from their time together at Brentford.
Spurs hope that Frank’s move to the hot seat might convince the forward to choose North London over Old Trafford. That forward is Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo starred for Brentford, scoring and assisting regularly, and earned a spot in the Premier League lineups despite the club’s Battle for survival.
His energy, versatility across the front three, and knack for key moments have made him one of England’s most exciting young attackers.
While Bryan Mbeumo seems to favour a move to Manchester United, Tottenham hope that Frank’s backing and the promise of regular football under a familiar coach could sway his decision.
For now, the race is on, and both clubs will need to convince Brentford to meet their valuation and Mbeumo’s heart.
