Tottenham Hotspur narrowly avoided relegation after enduring a miserable 2025-26 Premier League campaign. The North London club have responded with an ambitious rebuild this summer under Roberto de Zerbi.
Tottenham broke their transfer record to sign Sandro Tonali and also completed deals for Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi arrived on free transfers as De Zerbi continued reshaping his squad. The early signs have been encouraging during preseason.
Tottenham defeated MK Dons before recording victories over Auckland FC and Chelsea during their tour of Oceania.
They also overcame Sydney FC on penalties and will now complete their preparations against Getafe and Hoffenheim.
Despite those additions, De Zerbi still wants another striker before the transfer window closes.
According to The Sun, Folarin Balogun has been offered to Tottenham through intermediaries as the club continue searching for attacking reinforcements.
The report states that Balogun’s representatives approached Tottenham directly after Monaco made the United States international available for a competitive fee.
Spurs now consider the 25-year-old a serious option as they look for competition and cover for Dominic Solanke.
The Sun adds that uncertainty over Balogun’s long-term future at Monaco has strengthened Tottenham’s chances.
The striker’s pace, movement and ability to create opportunities with either foot reportedly suit De Zerbi’s preferred style of play.
Balogun also enhanced his reputation during the 2026 World Cup after scoring three goals in his opening two appearances.
He later found himself at the centre of controversy when FIFA overturned his suspension following a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina, allowing him to feature in the United States’ knockout tie against Belgium.
The report also names Nicolas Jackson as another striker offered to Tottenham. However, discussions remain at an early stage.
Victor Osimhen is also under consideration, although his reported £65-£70 million valuation could prove too expensive for the North London club.
