Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window ended with more players leaving than arriving. The club sanctioned a number of exits on deadline day, but not every deal went through as expected.
Spanish winger Bryan Gil secured a permanent move to Girona for £8.5 million, while Manor Solomon joined Villarreal on loan after a failed move to Crystal Palace left him in limbo.
Still, other players who were expected to depart stayed behind in north London.
Transfer News Live earlier reported on the sudden departure of chairman Daniel Levy, which has added an extra layer of uncertainty around decisions at the club.
That uncertainty was reflected in the window, with one midfielder’s proposed exit collapsing late on. The player in question is Yves Bissouma.
The Mali international was close to leaving Spurs before the deadline, but saw his move break down at the last minute.
Galatasaray had shown strong interest, yet concerns over his fitness meant the deal was abandoned. Now, things could change again.
According to the Daily Mail, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are exploring the chance to make a late move for Bissouma, as their transfer window remains open until Friday.
The midfielder was originally ruled out of such a switch after Jose Mourinho reportedly blocked the deal with negative feedback. But with Mourinho now sacked, the path may have opened once more.
For Tottenham Hotspur, the situation remains complicated. New manager Thomas Frank has not used Bissouma in a competitive match since taking charge.
The midfielder last featured in the UEFA Europa League final. But an injury in pre-season saw him lose his spot in the squad.
Frank has also left him out of both the Champions League group phase squad and the Super Cup squad, signalling that he is not part of his main plans.
With minutes hard to come by, Bissouma could find the chance of a fresh start in Turkey appealing.
