With the Champions League returning to Naples next season, the Italian champions are wasting no time in reshaping their squad for the challenges ahead.

Despite already boasting depth across key positions, the club’s top priority for the summer seems clear and it might just surprise a few.

The need to strengthen the left flank has grown more pressing for the Partenopei.

A long and demanding campaign across Serie A and Europe will test both fitness and form, and Napoli are moving aggressively to avoid being caught short.

According to Fichajes, the club is now preparing a formal bid that is expected to reach €30 million.

That figure comes close to triggering the release clause, which is set at €35 million. Though not yet officially confirmed, negotiations are believed to be well underway.

The player in question has enjoyed a breakout year in Spain, helping his team punch well above their weight in La Liga.

Strong on the overlap, intelligent in possession, and defensively alert, he has quickly grown into one of the most dependable full-backs in the Spanish top flight.

Real Madrid, the club where he spent his youth and still holds 50% of his economic rights, are monitoring developments closely.

Should a deal go through, they would reportedly receive close to €15 million from the sale.

Ironically, they once had the option to re-sign him for a mere €8 million; but passed.

Several top clubs including Juventus and AC Milan were previously interested, but Napoli acted faster and more decisively. And now, Miguel Gutierrez could be on his way to Serie A.

The Girona defender has been one of the standout names in Spanish football this season.

If all goes to plan, Miguel Gutierrez could soon be swapping Catalonia for Campania, taking the next big step in a career that already looks destined for the top.
