Manchester United are bracing for a busy summer transfer window. Now, they are not only looking to sign new players but also looking at sales.
Michael Carrick has recently outlined United’s summer business. Now, there was one player who was guaranteed to leave Old Trafford next summer, and that was Marcus Rashford.
The Manchester United loanee has been enjoying a fantastic spell in Spain. Barcelona were very happy with Rashford, and they were ready to sign him permanently.
However, the Catalan club were not ready to pay that €30 million buyout clause. They were devising another plan to bring the England international to Camp Nou next season.
Barcelona were looking to sign Rashford on loan next summer again if they fail to agree on a fee with United. So, it showed how much the Spanish champions valued Marcus Rashford.
But everything changed after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid. And now, the Catalan club’s wait for European glory continues.
So, they are now preparing for strong decisions. Barcelona are well on their way to retaining the La Liga title. They are nine points ahead of Real Madrid.
However, their dream of winning the Champions League will remain unfulfilled this season. Thus, their Sporting Director, Deco, is ready to make some strong calls.
And, one of them involves the Manchester United loanee. According to El Nacional, Barcelona will not be signing Marcus Rashford permanently.
At the end of this season, they will send him back to Manchester United. The report states that the reason for this decision is that Rashford failed to reach the level Deco expected him to reach.
So, it looks like Manchester United will have to look for a new buyer for Rashford, and it could have an impact on their pursuit of his replacement.
