Tonali’s agent, Pepe Rizzo, has also addressed the growing interest. He confirmed that attracting attention from top clubs was always part of the long-term plan. He said (via GOAL):
“Exactly, that was the aim, and it’s only natural that he’s on their radar; he’s performing extremely well.
“That was the aim and the vision when we made the decision to move to Newcastle, for Sandro to become an exceptional player and the most valuable Italian player.”
Newcastle have backed Tonali through a difficult period, including a 10-month ban for betting shortly after his arrival in 2023.
Since his return, he has played a key role in the team and helped them win the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League.
With transfer fees for midfielders rising sharply in recent years, Newcastle could demand a significant fee if they decide to sell.
