Manchester United plan move for Germany’s World Cup star

Despite obstacles, interest in the midfielder from United continues to grow.

Manchester United continue to prioritise midfield additions during the summer transfer window. Michael Carrick wants to strengthen the centre of the pitch before the new season begins.

The departure of Casemiro has increased the need for reinforcements. United have already moved quickly to address that issue.

A deal for Ederson from Atalanta has been agreed and the Brazilian is expected to arrive at Old Trafford. However, the club wants more than one midfield signing.

Recruitment staff continue to assess several options across Europe. Sandro Tonali, Alex Scott, Mateus Fernandes and Carlos Baleba have all been linked with the Red Devils.

Carrick wants a player capable of improving both quality and depth in midfield. Now, another name has entered the conversation after his performance for Germany in the World Cup.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has emerged as a target for Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has established himself as an important player since joining the Bundesliga side in 2023.

His consistent performances have attracted interest from several major clubs. Manchester United are not alone in the race.

The report claims that Manchester City and Real Madrid also admire the Germany international. That competition could make any potential deal difficult.

On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund have no desire to sell the midfielder this summer. The German club wants Nmecha to remain for at least another season.

They also hold a strong position when it comes to negotiations. His current contract runs until 2030, giving Dortmund significant control over his future.

The report adds that Nmecha has a release clause worth around £60.5 million. However, that clause does not become active until next summer.

As a result, any move during the current transfer window would likely require an even larger fee. Despite those obstacles, interest in the midfielder from United continues to grow.
