Tottenham Hotspur are showing real ambition in the transfer market this summer.
After finishing 17th in the Premier League for a second consecutive season, the club is determined to avoid another disappointing campaign.
Roberto De Zerbi has already started reshaping his squad following his arrival in north London. Several new faces have already arrived.
Jan Paul van Hecke has joined in a £52 million deal. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also strengthened the defensive department.
However, Tottenham are not stopping there. The club continues to pursue Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.
They are also looking at West Ham United star Mateus Fernandes as De Zerbi looks to add more quality throughout the squad.
Now, Tottenham have turned their attention towards a high-profile attacking target.
According to the iPaper, Spurs are preparing to launch an official bid for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
The England international faces an uncertain future after Barcelona allowed their option to sign him permanently to expire.
Despite producing 28 goal contributions during his loan spell in Spain, the Catalan club moved in a different direction and completed a deal for Anthony Gordon instead.
As a result, Marcus Rashford finds himself at another crossroads. The report claims Tottenham are ready to test Manchester United’s resolve with a formal approach. Spurs are hoping to secure a deal below the £40 million figure.
Manchester United are also willing to sell. The report states that the club wants a permanent solution for Rashford’s future and is keen to remove his sizeable wages from the payroll.
However, completing a deal may not be straightforward. Rashford’s preference remains a move abroad.
Barcelona still appeals to the forward, while Bayern Munich are also viewed as a potential destination.
If he stays in England, the report suggests he would rather remain at Manchester United than move elsewhere.
