Liverpool set to battle Manchester United for French midfielder

Both clubs have now turned their attention to the same player.

Liverpool are preparing for a crucial summer after narrowly securing UEFA Champions League qualification.

The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League and have already started rebuilding under Andoni Iraola following Arne Slot’s departure.

Liverpool have strengthened their defence by signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in a deal worth £55 million. The club have also added youngster Ifeanyi Ndukwe to their ranks.

Their recruitment team continues to search for more reinforcements, with Bradley Barcola and several midfielders under close consideration as preparations for the new season continue.

Manchester United are also active in the market after securing a return to the Champions League with a third-place finish.

Michael Carrick wants to rebuild his midfield following Casemiro’s departure.

The club have already agreed a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson and remain interested in Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott also feature on United’s shortlist. Both clubs have now turned their attention to the same player.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus are ready to listen to offers for French midfielder Khephren Thuram.

The Serie A giants no longer consider the 25-year-old untouchable and are actively looking for a buyer this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both expressed interest in the France international.

Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation as Juventus begin reshaping their midfield. However, Juventus’ asking price could complicate any deal.

The Italian club want around €50 million for Thuram, although interested clubs reportedly believe that valuation is too high.

Juventus are willing to sell Thuram to create space in midfield as they push to sign Franck Kessie, who is available as a free agent.

The move would also help the club reduce both its squad size and wage bill ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool and Manchester United will now decide whether to match Juventus’ demands or wait to see if the Italian club lower their valuation later in the transfer window.
