HandofArsenal has delivered a significant update on the Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal transfer saga.
Newcastle United have endured a difficult summer after losing several key players from their squad. Anthony Gordon joined Barcelona, while Sandro Tonali completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Kieran Trippier departed for Wolves on a free transfer after Alexander Isak had already left for Liverpool the previous summer.
As a result, Newcastle are desperate to avoid losing another important figure from Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Magpies endured a disappointing 2025/26 season as they finished 12th in the Premier League and suffered a heavy Champions League exit against Barcelona.
Consequently, the club hierarchy have maintained a firm stance that their captain is not for sale despite growing interest from north London.
However, Bruno Guimaraes has informed Newcastle of his desire to join Arsenal following Brazil’s exit from the 2026 World Cup. Mikel Arteta views the Brazilian as the ideal midfield addition to ease the burden on Declan Rice.
The Gunners have already verbally agreed a five-year contract with the midfielder. And they remain keen to complete a deal this summer.
According to HandofArsenal, Bruno Guimaraes has directly informed Eddie Howe that he wants to join the Premier League champions.
The report also states that Kia Joorabchian continues to handle communication between the two clubs. And, Arsenal are internally discussing submitting another offer.
Meanwhile, the midfielder would prefer the situation to be resolved before pre-season begins. But he has no intention of forcing the issue.
Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season and have already strengthened their squad this summer.
The addition of Bruno Guimaraes would make Arteta’s side an even stronger unit as they look to retain their crown next season.
