Manchester United plan shock deal to sign £70M Liverpool star

Liverpool remain calm over the situation and would reportedly only consider offers worth £70 million or more.

Manchester United continue to reshape their squad following last season’s revival under Michael Carrick.

The former midfielder guided the club to a third-place Premier League finish after replacing Ruben Amorim in January.

That turnaround secured Champions League football and changed the mood around Old Trafford. United have already turned their attention towards rebuilding the midfield this summer.

Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s injury have accelerated those plans. The club are close to completing deals for Andrey Santos and Ederson, while Karl Darlow is also set to arrive.

However, United continue to assess opportunities in other areas of the squad as well. Meanwhile, Liverpool have also entered a new era following the appointment of Andoni Iraola.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all departed Anfield this summer. Also, Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have arrived as part of Liverpool’s rebuild.

Despite those changes, Liverpool are not actively looking to weaken their attacking options.

Cody Gakpo endured a difficult domestic season but rediscovered his best form at the World Cup with the Netherlands.

The forward scored three goals and registered one assist before their elimination against Morocco.

According to Ben Jacobs while speaking to The United Stand, Manchester United remain long-term admirers of Cody Gakpo and could explore a shock move if the situation changes.

Gakpo made 52 appearances for the Reds last season in all competition. The Dutch international scored only nine goals and provided only six assists.

Liverpool remain calm over the situation and would reportedly only consider offers worth £70 million or more.

For now, Tottenham Hotspur are viewed as the more concrete option if the Dutchman leaves Anfield this summer. Roberto De Zerbi view Gakpo as an important addition to his squad for next season.
