Manchester United ready to make move for £60M Newcastle United star

Newcastle are unlikely to make negotiations easy.

Manchester United enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under Michael Carrick during the 2025/26 campaign.

The Red Devils climbed to third in the Premier League and secured a return to the Champions League after a difficult previous season.

Carrick and INEOS have wasted little time strengthening the squad this summer. A deal for Youri Tielemans is nearing completion.

Also, Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos is also closing in on a move to Old Trafford. Veteran goalkeeper Karl Darlow is arriving as cover for Senne Lammens.

Now, as United continue to search for further midfield reinforcements, their attention could soon shift towards the defence.

Luke Shaw enjoyed an impressive campaign after years of injury frustrations. The England international started all 38 Premier League matches last season,

He played a major role in United’s return to Europe’s top competition. However, Shaw has now entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

That situation has encouraged Manchester United to plan for the future at left-back.

According to TEAMtalk, Michael Carrick remains determined to bring Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall to Old Trafford this summer.

The report claims Hall is viewed as United’s priority target after Nathaniel Brown completed his move to Bayern Munich and Alejandro Balde became increasingly difficult to sign.

Manchester United reportedly believe the 21-year-old is open to the switch. Hall is said to view the opportunity to work under Carrick and establish himself at Old Trafford as an attractive proposition.

He would initially compete with Shaw before eventually succeeding him as the club’s long-term first-choice left-back. Newcastle, however, are unlikely to make negotiations easy.

The Magpies have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, while Bruno Guimaraes continues to attract interest from Arsenal. With that in mind, Newcastle are reluctant to lose another key player.

Despite those difficulties, Manchester United remain ready to make their move after completing their midfield business.
