Arsenal and Manchester United could go head-to-head for another attacking addition before the summer transfer window closes.
Both clubs enter the new campaign from strong positions after securing Champions League football last season.
Arsenal won the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta before narrowly missing out on another major trophy in the Champions League final.
Meanwhile, Manchester United finished third after Michael Carrick inspired an impressive turnaround during the second half of the campaign.
However, possible departures could force both clubs back into the market for another striker.
Arsenal are assessing their attacking options amid growing transfer interest in Gabriel Jesus. United could also strengthen up front if Joshua Zirkzee leaves for Serie A.
According to The Sun, both Arsenal and Manchester United are monitoring Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins ahead of a possible summer move.
The 30-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign last season, scoring 16 Premier League goals and providing three assists.
Watkins also helped Aston Villa secure Champions League qualification before representing England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, he received limited opportunities during England’s campaign. Watkins made two substitute appearances, including 45 minutes in the third-place play-off victory over France.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have already explored a move for the England international.
The Turkish club considered an offer worth £30M and were prepared to hand Watkins a lucrative three-year contract. However, Aston Villa made it clear that they would not accept the proposal.
The report claims that offers around £40M could receive consideration, potentially opening the door for Premier League interest.
Arsenal currently have Watkins among the prominent options on their shortlist as Arteta considers alternatives in attack. However, Manchester United’s position depends heavily on Zirkzee’s future.
Should the forward complete a move to Juventus or Roma, the Red Devils are expected to make an official approach for Watkins.
