Manchester United are looking to build on last season’s impressive turnaround.
Michael Carrick guided the Red Devils back into the Champions League after replacing Ruben Amorim midway through the campaign.
The club have continued that progress with another active summer in the transfer market. United have already strengthened their midfield.
Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have arrived to add quality in the middle of the pitch. Karl Darlow, Tynan Thompson and Kit Margetson have also joined the squad.
However, Carrick is still searching for further reinforcements. Manchester United want to improve several positions before the transfer window closes.
A new option on the left side has become one of the club’s priorities. Meanwhile, Newcastle United have entered a period of uncertainty.
Eddie Howe has left the club after almost five years in charge. The Magpies have also sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, while Bruno Guimaraes continues to attract interest from Arsenal.
Now, Manchester United could look to capitalise. According to The Sun, United are considering a move for Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall following Howe’s departure.
The Red Devils view the 21-year-old as the ideal long-term successor to Luke Shaw, whose contract expires next year. Hall is reportedly keen to leave Newcastle.
The defender believes his late-season positional change contributed to his omission from England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
He was moved to right-back to cover for the injured Tino Livramento before Thomas Tuchel named his final squad.
Hall could still remain at St James’ Park depending on Newcastle’s next manager. However, the uncertainty surrounding the club has increased speculation over his future.
Manchester United are also prepared to sell Harry Amass as they reshape their options on the left.
Patrick Dorgu has mainly featured further forward under Carrick, while Diego Leon is still developing with the club’s Under-21 side.
