Newcastle United accept Arsenal’s offer for Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal now hope to finalise the remaining details and complete one of the biggest transfers of the summer window.

Arsenal have moved a step closer to completing one of their biggest signings of the summer.

Mikel Arteta has made Bruno Guimaraes his priority midfield target as he looks to strengthen his squad for another Premier League title challenge.

The Gunners have pursued the Newcastle United captain for several months and now appear close to reaching the finish line. The negotiations have taken several twists.

Arsenal saw opening offers worth €70M and €80M rejected as Newcastle refused to lower their demands.

However, the London club remained confident because Guimaraes had already agreed personal terms on a contract running until 2031. Now, the breakthrough has arrived.

According to L’Equipe, Newcastle United have accepted Arsenal’s latest offer worth €90M plus (£75M+) bonuses for the Brazil international.

The report states that the remaining discussions involve bonus payments and agent fees before the clubs can finalise the transfer. Guimaraes has wanted the move for several weeks.

The midfielder informed Newcastle that he wanted a new challenge and hoped to play Champions League football.

Arsenal have continued pushing to complete the transfer despite Newcastle initially valuing their captain at close to €100M. Several events have also changed the situation at St James’ Park.

The club lost manager Eddie Howe earlier this week, creating further uncertainty ahead of the new season. The transfer could also benefit another club.

Lyon inserted a 20% sell-on clause when they sold Guimaraes to Newcastle in 2022. As a result, the French club could receive more than €8M if Arsenal complete the deal.

Arsenal now hope to finalise the remaining details and complete one of the biggest transfers of the summer window.
