Arsenal identify Vinicius Junior alternative from Barcelona

Arsenal are not alone in tracking the World Cup winner.

Arsenal are preparing for the defence of their Premier League title after a memorable 2025/26 campaign.

Mikel Arteta guided the Gunners to their first league crown in 22 years before they narrowly missed out on Champions League glory, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the final.

The club has continued to strengthen this summer. Arsenal have signed Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes is closing in on a £75 million move from Newcastle United. With Leandro Trossard leaving for Besiktas, another attacking addition remains a priority.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Vinicius Junior has now come to an end after the Brazilian agreed a new contract with Real Madrid.

The Gunners are therefore assessing alternative targets as they look to add more quality in the final third.

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal have identified Ferran Torres as one of the players under consideration.

The report states that Torres is weighing up his future after struggling to secure a regular starting place at Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain remain the favourites if he decides to leave, with talks between the French champions and the player’s representatives already at an advanced stage.

However, the move is not yet complete. Barcelona have reportedly asked Torres to delay making a final decision because they would prefer to keep him at the club.

Arsenal have reportedly reached out to the Spain international’s representatives to stay informed about his situation.

Arsenal are not alone in tracking the World Cup winner. The report adds that Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring Torres.

Meawhile, Barcelona still hope to convince him to remain at the Camp Nou. Although Vinicius Junior was Arsenal’s dream signing, the club already appears to be exploring alternative solutions.
