Arsenal have started the new season strongly after finally ending their long wait for another Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta guided the Gunners to the championship last season after three consecutive second-place finishes in the competition.
Viktor Gyokeres played a major role in that success, finishing as Arsenal’s top scorer with 21 goals.
However, the Gunners also narrowly missed out on a historic double after reaching the Champions League final.
Despite their success, Arsenal remain interested in adding another high-profile forward before the summer transfer window closes.
Julian Alvarez has attracted interest, but the Atletico Madrid forward remains determined to complete a move to Barcelona.
Therefore, Arsenal have continued assessing other possibilities as Arteta looks to add further competition to his attacking department.
Victor Osimhen has emerged as a serious option after Arsenal already held discussions with Galatasaray during the current transfer window.
Those conversations took place while the two clubs were negotiating over possible moves involving Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal will only pursue a deal for Victor Osimhen if the striker significantly reduces his current salary demands.
The Nigerian currently earns more than £350,000 per week at Galatasaray, creating a major obstacle for the Premier League champions.
Arsenal do not want to break their internal wage structure and have therefore placed responsibility on Osimhen to lower his demands.
Galatasaray also have no desire to sell their leading striker during the closing stages of the summer window.
However, the Turkish club could face a difficult situation if Osimhen agrees personal terms with Arsenal on reduced wages.
The 27-year-old has already scored twice this season, with both goals coming against Corum FK on the opening day.
Osimhen scored 22 goals in 32 matches last season after enjoying an outstanding debut campaign with Galatasaray.
