Manchester United make shock decision on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin

United could consider signing another forward to compete with Sesko during the January transfer window.

Manchester United endured another difficult start to the Premier League season despite investing heavily during the summer transfer window.

Michael Carrick’s side have won just once across their opening five league matches, with that victory coming against Ipswich Town.

United concentrated much of their summer spending on midfield, bringing in Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

However, they chose not to add another striker to provide greater depth behind Benjamin Sesko.

That decision has attracted attention following their early struggles, with potential attacking additions already being discussed ahead of January.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has emerged in that conversation after producing an impressive start to his second season with Leeds United.

The 29-year-old has scored three goals across five Premier League appearances, helping Daniel Farke’s side climb to fifth place.

According to Football Insider, however, Manchester United are not considering a move for Calvert-Lewin despite recent speculation.

The Leeds striker is not on United’s shortlist, and the club currently have no plans to pursue his signature.

United could still consider signing another forward to compete with Sesko during the January transfer window.

However, they will assess alternative targets rather than attempting to bring Calvert-Lewin to Old Trafford.

The former Everton striker joined Leeds on a free transfer before the 2025/26 campaign and subsequently revived his Premier League career.

He scored 14 league goals across 35 appearances last season before continuing that form during the opening weeks of this campaign.

Leeds also have no intention of selling Calvert-Lewin, who remains an important part of Farke’s plans at Elland Road.

His existing contract runs until 2028, while Leeds are preparing to hold discussions over extending his stay further.

Therefore, Manchester United can currently be ruled out as a potential destination despite recent speculation surrounding the striker.

Any January move for another forward would instead require Carrick’s side to turn their attention towards alternative options.
