Arsenal and Chelsea receive encouragement as Real Madrid academy graduate rules out return

Arsenal and Chelsea have shown the most interest among potential Premier League suitors.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both invested heavily in strengthening their squads ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

The reigning champions added Bruno Guimaraes for £75 million alongside Piero Hincapie, Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis.

Chelsea completed an even larger overhaul under Xabi Alonso, with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa for £117 million.

Both London clubs are now monitoring another potential addition whose development in Serie A has attracted Premier League attention.

According to AS, Arsenal and Chelsea have shown the strongest interest in Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon.

The 21-year-old developed through Real Madrid’s academy before Como signed him for €2.5 million in 2025.

Real Madrid retained 50 per cent of his rights, providing the Spanish club with significant involvement in his longer-term future.

However, Ramon is currently not considering a return to Real Madrid because he prioritises regular football and an important role.

That stance could encourage Arsenal and Chelsea as they continue monitoring the defender’s progress in Italy.

Real Madrid attempted to bring Ramon back last summer and offered him a place as their fourth-choice centre-back.

However, the defender rejected that opportunity and remained with Como for another Serie A campaign.

Real Madrid could attempt to bring him back again once the current season finishes for €9 million.

Crucially, any return would still depend on Ramon agreeing to the move rather than Real Madrid making the decision alone.

The defender remains focused on continuing his development at Como before determining his next move.

Arsenal and Chelsea have shown the most interest among his potential Premier League suitors, although neither club has completed a transfer.

Ramon’s performances during the remainder of the season could therefore prove important before another decision arrives next summer.

For now, his reluctance to return to Real Madrid leaves Arsenal and Chelsea with encouragement as they continue tracking his situation.
