Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United have been on the lookout for a striker all summer long.

Both teams have struggled for goals from their strikers as they ultimately fell below expectations.

Arsenal were looking to take the next step after back-to-back runners up finishes in the Premier League.

Man United were aiming to build on their FA Cup final win under manager Erik ten Hag.

However, Arsenal failed to capitalise on Manchester City’s struggles without Rodri as they finished ten points behind champions Liverpool.

For United, ten Hag was gone in November, but Ruben Amorim failed to turn their fortunes around as the club finished 15th in the Premier League table and lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

Both clubs will be hoping for improvements in the 2025/26 season, with the striker position high on both club’s priority list.

One of their biggest targets this summer has fuelled transfer speculation of a move to either club.

Speaking to L’Équipé, Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres has discussed his future.

Once a Brighton and Hove Albion player, Gyökeres failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the Sussex based side.

He made four total appearances for the Seagulls, scoring one goal in a league cup win over Portsmouth.

Since, he has gone on to play for Swansea City and Coventry City, including a playoff final appearance for the latter.

He would then make move to Portugese giants Sporting, where he has excelled.

In 102 total games for the Primeira Liga side, he has netted 97 goals.

A move to Arsenal and Manchester United have been strongly touted in recent months, even with the potential arrivals of Noni Madueke and Bryan Mbuemo at both clubs respectively.

Gyökeres has expressed his desire to join the Premier League, saying it would be “great revenge”
