One of the most controversial names in the recent history of Manchester United is Mason Greenwood.
The academy star was tipped to become the next sensation at Old Trafford. During his time with the senior team, Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances.
However, his time at Manchester was cut short by a controversy. But the Englishman has revived his career. First, he went on loan to La Liga. While playing for Getafe, he scored 10 goals in 36 games.
The next season, he secured a permanent move to Olympique de Marseille and scored 22 goals in 36 games.
He also became the joint top scorer of Ligue 1 along with Ousmane Dembele. That is why so many clubs across Europe are keeping an eye on him.
However, the clubs from the Saudi Pro League are showing concrete interest in signing him. They are ready to offer €80 million for the striker.
According to Fichajes, Neom Sports Club, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli are all interested in signing him and are ready to splash cash once the forward gives the green light to a move.
Now, if Greenwood moves to the Saudi Pro League and secures a big-money transfer, it will significantly boost Manchester United’s chances of securing a move for Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille for a transfer fee of €31.6 million. Along with the fee, United inserted a sell-on clause in the contract.
As a result, if Marseille sell Greenwood for €80 million, then as per the 50% sell-on clause, Manchester United will receive €40 million.
This could be half the money they would have to pay to secure the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
That is why the Manchester United board will be having a keen eye on whether Mason Greenwood decides to join the Saudi Pro League with a big-money move or not.
