The Grimsby Town humiliation has raised questions over the future of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
The Red Devils were knocked out by the fourth division side on penalties after the game ended in a 2-2 draw after the regulation time.
Apart from the result, what seemed more shocking was the performance of the players. And that raised questions on the tactics of Ruben Amorim, who continues to trust his 3-4-2-1 formation.
The former Manchester City executive and the current United CEO, Omar Berrada, was the main man who pushed the Red Devils to sign Ruben Amorim after sacking Erik ten Hag.
The former Sporting Director of Manchester United, Dan Ashworth, wanted to bring in Thomas Frank or Graham Potter, or Gareth Southgate to replace Ten Hag.
That is why if Amorim gets sacked, Berrada will be held responsible for that. Similarly, Ashworth was held responsible for the sacking of Ten Hag in the middle of last season.
So, the next few days will be crucial for the future of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. The graph of United’s downfall under Amorim is steep.
The Portuguese manager just managed to win 7 games in the Premier League out of the 29 games he has been in-charge.
The 40-year-old’s points-per-game is worse than Erik ten Hag’s. That is why Manchester United are looking to make a decision.
According to The Mirror, the Red Devils have set a timeline to make the decision on the future of Ruben Amorim.
As per their report, the United hierarchy will have a meeting on Saturday after the match against Burnley at Old Trafford.
This will be a must-win game for Ruben Amorim. If he loses that game, then it could be his last game in charge, as there will be an international break post this week’s Premier League action.
The Manchester United board will have time to make the final decision on Ruben Amorim during the international break.
