Bayer Leverkusen recently sacked their manager, Erik ten Hag, on transfer deadline day. It came as a surprise because the Dutch manager was in charge of 3 official games for Leverkusen.

After parting ways with the German club, the bemused manager put out a statement saying:

“The decision by Bayer Leverkusen this morning to put me on a leave of absence came as a complete surprise. To part ways with a manager after just two league matches is unprecedented.”

With Ten Hag getting sacked so early in the season, Bayer Leverkusen will be looking to replace him as soon as possible.

The situation is quite the same with Manchester United. But the English club is yet to fire their manager. However, a few bad results in the next few games could lead to Ruben Amorim’s sacking as well.

United have started the season poorly. They lost to Arsenal in their opening game, and they got a point against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

And to rub salt against their wounds, from nowhere, Grimsby Town knocked United out of the Carabao Cup in the second round.

Although they did get their first win of the season against Burnley at Old Trafford, it is fair to say that Ruben Amorim is on thin ice at the moment.

That is why Manchester United are already scouting managers to replace Ruben Amorim. Now, the Red Devils could target the same manager that Bayer Leverkusen wanted to sign.

According to Fichajes, Bayer Leverkusen approached Xavi Hernandez to replace Erik ten Hag as their new manager.

However, the Spaniard rejected the offer. Jurgen Klopp is another name being discussed as a replacement for Ten Hag.

Now, Manchester United could approach Xavi in case they decide to part ways with Amorim mid-season.

With the former Barcelona manager available in the market, Manchester United will surely have him on their list of potential replacements for Ruben Amorim.
