Real Madrid are reportedly targeting a move for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo ahead of the next transfer window.

Mainoo has struggled for regular game time this season under new manager Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old is yet to start a Premier League match. Mainoo only featured as a substitute against Burnley and Manchester City.

Transfer News Live reported earlier that the England international wanted a loan move late in the summer window to get more minutes ahead of the World Cup.

But ultimately, he remained at Old Trafford. Kobbie Mainoo wants to stay at the club. But he wants regular game time which is hard to come bay under Amorim.

So, Mainoo could still leave in the upcoming window, with several top European sides tracking his situation.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid have added Mainoo to their shortlist as they search for another midfielder.

Madrid are not alone in the race. Newcastle United are long-time admirers of Mainoo. Also, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Napoli are also monitoring the midfielder closely.

Mainoo is under contract with Manchester United until 2027, and the club have reportedly set a valuation of €90 million (£78.5 million) for the academy product.

At that price, only a few clubs in world football would be able to enter serious negotiations.

Real Madrid view Mainoo as a technically gifted midfielder who could be part of their next generation. However, they are aware that United will drive a hard bargain.

The Spanish club hope to convince United to lower their asking price, but any deal is expected to be complex and drawn out.

As it stands, Real Madrid remain interested, and Mainoo’s situation will be one to watch closely ahead of the next window.
