Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has delivered a scathing verdict on Mohamed Salah.
He claimed that the Liverpool forward has “destroyed” his legacy after publicly accusing the club of scapegoating him during their recent slump.
The Egyptian is long regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest modern players. But, he now finds himself at the centre of a storm that has cast doubt over his Anfield future.

Moreover, Salah’s outburst came after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, where he remained an unused substitute for the third consecutive match. Speaking afterwards, he vented his frustration, declaring:
“I don’t know why I’m sitting on the bench. It feels like the club is throwing me under the bus, that’s how I feel. This is not acceptable for me.”
So, Rooney believes those comments have crossed a line, warning that the 33-year-old has jeopardised everything he built at Liverpool. On The Wayne Rooney Show podcast, he said:
“He is absolutely destroying his legacy at Liverpool. It would be sad for him to throw it all away. He’s gone about it all wrong. Why? Why would you come out and say that?
“I think it is absolutely disrespectful to his team-mates, to his manager, to the fans. Arne Slot has to show his authority… If I was him there would be no way he would be in the team.”
Rooney also insisted that Salah’s dip in form justified Arne Slot’s decision to bench him.
“Time catches up with all of us… this season he hasn’t looked at his best. You want to see him roll his sleeves up.
“The arrogance to say he doesn’t have to earn his place… if I was one of his team-mates, I wouldn’t be happy at all.”
Thus, with Liverpool preparing for their Champions League trip to Inter Milan, Salah’s involvement remains uncertain as tensions continue to rise around Anfield.
