Arsenal are having a fantastic season. The Gunners are leading both the Premier League and Champions League tables.
They have invested heavily in the transfer market this summer. Also, Andrea Berta has signed some world-class players for Mikel Arteta. And, the results are showing up on the field.
This means some of their younger talents will not get as much game time as they should. Thus, there will be speculations around some of their finest talents.
Also, Arsenal’s financial position has sparked fresh uncertainty around one of their most exciting academy talents.
Reports on X are suggesting that the club may have to sell a valuable player to comply with financial rules.
The situation has alerted Manchester United. The Red Devils are monitoring 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri amid concern that his development has stalled this season.
After spending over £250 million last summer, Arsenal are operating on a tight financial margin. The suggestion that a high-value sale may be required has opened the door for rivals to explore opportunities.
And United are looking at the Arsenal player, as they look to strengthen under Ruben Amorim.
The teenager’s limited minutes in 2025–26 have left him frustrated. He is not getting proper game time, which is hampering his progress.
Nwaneri signed a new deal earlier this year, but interest from Old Trafford persists.
Amorim reportedly likes the youngster and would welcome him at Old Trafford. However, Arsenal remain reluctant to sanction any form of exit.
United’s midfield rebuild is ongoing, yet the report notes that Nwaneri would be viewed as a long-term attacking option rather than a solution in central midfield.
Even so, the prospect of Arsenal losing one of their brightest prospects is highly unlikely. Any move would hinge on the club’s financial manoeuvring ahead of future transfer windows.
And, United’s next steps may depend on both Casemiro’s situation and ongoing interest in Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson.
Also, this Ethan Nwaneri to Manchester United move will depend a lot on what happens with Kobbie Mainoo this January.
