Manchester United are now looking to make a move in the transfer market. In January, they wanted to sign a midfielder and an attacker.
So, they had two primary targets, Antoine Semenyo and Ruben Neves. Semenyo decided to join Manchester City, and Neves is now close to renewing his contract with Al-Hilal.
However, in the summer, they are looking to strengthen multiple positions, and the left-back will surely be one of those positions.
Now, the Red Devils have identified a player from the Bundesliga. But Arsenal also have their eyes on the same place. So, a transfer race could be brewing around the corner.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United sent senior scouts to Germany on Wednesday night to watch Nathaniel Brown in action.
The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has impressed in the Bundesliga and is regarded as one of the most promising young full-backs in Europe.
Arsenal are also monitoring his situation. Brown is under contract with Frankfurt until 2030, which puts the German club in a strong negotiating position.
Any deal would likely cost around £40 million. United are financially capable of paying that fee and see the player as a long-term solution.
After establishing himself in Germany, Brown is keen to test himself at a higher level. The Premier League appeals to him, and Manchester United represent a major step up in profile and expectation.
The asking price is not a concern. At £40 million, United believe Brown represents good value for a defender of his age and potential.
Arsenal’s stance remains unclear. The North London club already have options at left-back, including Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
That could leave United with a clearer pathway to regular minutes, something that may prove decisive in this transfer race.
