Manchester United reignite interest in Chelsea star

Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland and Everton are all looking to sign the player.

Michael Carrick

Manchester United are having a great run in the Premier League. They are the only team in the Premier League that has not lost a game in 2026.

Now, they are focusing on new signings for the summer. Their main focus is to secure a Champions League spot. That is why they hired Michael Carrick as the interim boss.

Also, their first objective for the next summer will be to hire a new permanent head coach. If Carrick secures the top 4, then he will be in the reckoning for sure.

But the Manchester United board know that they need to back their new manager with signings. Their priority will be to sign one or two midfielders.

Now, one of their priority targets has already shown willingness to join them next summer. But apart from midfielders, they need a striker as well.

They did sign Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovakian is yet to hit the ground running. However, he did score a couple of important goals against Fulham and West Ham United.

Still, United would like to have a backup in case Joshua Zirkzee decides to leave the club.

Now, according to CaughtOffside, the Reds Devils are ready to reignite their interest in Liam Delap from Chelsea. The former Ipswich Town target man signed for the Blues last summer.

Manchester United wanted to sign Delap, and he was one of the main targets. But he picked the Blues over United.

But his career at Chelsea has stalled as Liam Rosenior is using Joao Pedro often. Also, Injuries haven’t helped him either.

So, the Blues could be open to a move with multiple clubs showing interest. Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland and Everton are all looking to sign the striker.

Thus, if Manchester United plan to reignite interest and sign Delap, they should act quickly. But for Delap, he will be looking to become the first-choice striker, and this could be a problem at United.
