This is the England National Team’s best chance to win the World Cup.

Having hired Thomas Tuchel in October 2024, England will try to win their first major competition, since 1966.

England will look to bounce back and take the trophy, following back-to-back Euros finals.

After years of ‘nearly’, there’s belief that this group has the resilience to finally compete on the biggest stage.

The Three Lions have often relied on seasoned leadership during high-pressure moments.

Yet while preparations continue and optimism grows among supporters, one senior player now finds himself back in the headlines for reasons far removed from football.

According to Sky Sports News, Harry Maguire, England international and Manchester United defender, received a 15-month suspended sentence after a guilty verdict by the Greek courts.

The charges include non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery, while on holiday in 2020.

However, with his future at club level now uncertain, the timing couldn’t be more worse.

A suspended sentence means he will not serve immediate prison time, with the 31-year-old consistently maintaining his innocence in the process.

The case has been ongoing since the initial arrest, drawing significant media attention, and his legal team are expected to consider their options moving forward.

For England, the focus remains on football and the upcoming World Cup.

However, for one of their most recognisable defenders, it serves as a reminder that decisions made away from the pitch can echo far beyond it.
