Declan Rice could be facing potential disciplinary action after his comments following Arsenal’s draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The midfielder spoke out after a controversial moment that played a key role in the result. The incident took place in the second half when Arsenal thought they had won a penalty.

The referee initially pointed to the spot after a challenge on Eberechi Eze. However, the decision did not stand for long. After a VAR review, the referee reversed his call, which left Arsenal furious.

The decision changed the momentum of the game, and Mikel Arteta made his feelings clear on the touchline. His side eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the semi-final.

The situation did not end there. After the match, Declan Rice publicly questioned how the decision changed.

His comments quickly drew attention and could now lead to further consequences. Speaking to Stan Sport, Declan Rice said:

“The second one, Ebs’ one, is a clear penalty. So I don’t know how that’s not been given. I think the fans provoked the decision and changed the ref’s mind.”

Those remarks could now put him under scrutiny. UEFA will review the referee’s report before deciding whether to take any action.

The governing body could view his comments as questioning the integrity of the match officials. This is not the first time Rice has faced such a situation.

Rice received a two-match ban four years ago during his time at West Ham after confronting officials following a defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Arsenal will now wait for clarity, especially with important games ahead. They are already dealing with concerns over Martin Odegaard, who came off with a knee issue during the match.

The Gunners will face Fulham next in the Premier League before hosting Atletico Madrid in the second leg, where tensions are expected to remain high.
