There was a time when his career felt untouchable. He was a regular England international and one of the highest earners in the Premier League.
A player once valued north of £50 million and discussed in the same breath as Europe’s elite midfielders. Now, the story has taken a very different turn.
According to the Daily Mail, the former top-flight star has been spending his nights at The Victoria Casino in central London
He regularly takes part in high-stakes poker sessions that have led to heavy losses. As per the report, the loss could be around £25,000 per night.
Figures of up to £25,000 per night have been mentioned, with sources claiming those losses have quickly added up to around £150,000 in recent weeks.
The report claims that within poker circles, Dele Alli has gained an unfortunate reputation. Professional poker players see him as a “whale”, as they can make easy money from him.
One poker regular told the Mail that his arrival sparks immediate interest.
“As soon as he arrives, messages go around. Everyone wants to join his table because they know there is money to be made.”
Another added that while the sums involved are eye-watering, the mood around Alli feels uneasy rather than flashy.
“It is actually quite sad. He keeps to himself and does not seem particularly happy. He does not look bothered about losing, but poker is ruthless. There is no room for emotion.”
Away from the casino, Dele Alli’s football career has stalled just as dramatically.
After earning wages of around £150,000 per week at his peak, his Everton contract expired in 2024 following persistent injuries and a disappointing loan spell at Besiktas.
The former England international had a brief opportunity in Italy with Como, but it lasted just minutes.
A red card on his debut effectively ended that chapter, and Dele Alli has been without a club since September 2025.
