Arsenal had to settle for a point against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light due to a last-minute spectacular volley from Brian Brobbey.
This was only the third game this season in the Premier League, where the Gunners have dropped points. However, they are still sitting pretty at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, the game against the Black Cats is also covered in the clouds of controversy. Arsenal were complaining about a certain decision of the referee Craig Pawson.
It was Daniel Ballard who opened the scoring for Sunderland. But the Gunners were feeling hard down by.
During the opening minutes of the game, the defender made a challenge on Mikel Merino. And, many believe that Ballard was lucky to stay on the pitch after that challenge.
Also, there was hostility between Arsenal fans and Sunderland fans. One AFTV presenter was also throttled by a steward after the game.
So, it was a fiery exchange at the Stadium of Light which ensured that the Black Cats preserve their unbeaten record at home.
But this Premier League encounter was not the only occasion where an Arsenal player was unhappy with the referee.
Even a former Arsenal striker hit out at the referee for contentious decisions. But that was for a Ligue 1 game between PSG and Olympique Lyon.
The game ended in favour of the current French and European champions, PSG. The current Lyon striker, Alexander Lacazette, took to X to convey his dissatisfaction with the referee.
So, this weekend was not a favourable one for people related to Arsenal in terms of decisions from referees, not only in England but also in France.
Bravo @OL
Pas facile à 11 vs 12
