Manchester United are moving closer to a major decision. The club continue their search for a permanent manager, and several names have now entered the frame.
The process remains detailed, with multiple figures involved behind the scenes. Jason Wilcox leads the search, while Omar Berrada and Christopher Vivell also play key roles.
Together, they are shaping a shortlist ahead of the summer. A number of candidates have already been discussed.
Thomas Tuchel features among the options, while Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery and Andoni Iraola have also been considered as part of the club’s background work.
At the same time, Michael Carrick continues to strengthen his position. The interim boss has impressed since taking charge in January.
His results have stood out, and no Premier League side has collected more points in that period. He has also built a strong relationship with the hierarchy.
Carrick recently met Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Carrington, and that connection could play a role in the final decision. But the search has not narrowed completely.
According to TEAMtalk, Ratcliffe remains keen to explore every option before making a final call. That includes one name he has admired for some time.
The co-owner continues to rate Gareth Southgate highly and believes he could suit the demands of the role at Old Trafford.
Southgate’s experience at the international level and his leadership profile make him a serious contender in the eyes of the United hierarchy.
His long-time assistant Steve Holland now works within Carrick’s staff, which adds another layer to the situation.
Also, Transfer News Live revealed that Manchester United players have voiced their opinions on their preference for their next manager.
Manchester United have not made a final decision yet. The club plan to complete the process at the end of the season after reviewing all candidates.
But one thing is crystal clear. Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants Gareth Southgate firmly in the conversation.
