Before the January transfer window began, it felt like Mohamed Salah would leave Liverpool.
Even when he left for the African Cup of Nations, many believed they might never see Salah again at Anfield.
Saudi League clubs have been eyeing a move for Salah for a long time, with the Egyptian has being their dream target.
Unfortunately, it’s now a reality.
Having broken numerous records, his future in the Premier League, is set to be over.
Mohamed Salah set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season
The Egyptian played a key role in helping Liverpool secure their 20th top-flight league title, and 2nd Premier League title last season.
Although his output has reduced significantly in the past few months, his drop in performance was expected.
Liverpool have had a torrid season, with Champions League football out of their reach, as they sit 5th, five points behind Aston Villa.
Saudi Arabia could be the most likely destination, with clubs remaining alert, being as ready as possible, to make a move whenever the chance appears.
And that chance is now.
With Salah tweeting about his departure, he stated in his goodbye message how he “never imagined how deeply this club, this city and these people became part of his life.”
“Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”
Salah currently holds the record for the combined most goals and assists in the league, breaking the record for most PFA Player of the Year awards last season.
He also holds the most Premier League Player of the Month awards, to go with his 191 goals and 93 assists in the league, the fourth and seventh most, respectively.
Selling Salah in the summer would allow Liverpool to secure a significant fee. Also, it would free up his £400,000-a-week wages.
