Real Madrid set to hand star Kylian Mbappe’s shirt number
After the Club World Cup, Real Madrid are going through multiple changes. Their new manager, Xabi Alonso, is looking to make changes to his squad as well.
The truth is, the Spanish boss is having a hard time digesting the loss against PSG. Yes, Real Madrid were humiliated by the Parisians in that game.
Since then, there have been many rumours about players leaving the club. Xabi Alonso is looking for reinforcements in the midfield and defence.
After the global tournament, the Los Blancos have lost Luka Modric as the 39-year-old moved to AC Milan after his contract expired with Madrid.
As a result, his iconic number 9 shirt will be vacant. Kylian Mbappe will wear the number 10 from next season as Transfer News Live reported earlier.
So, now the question is which player will take up the number 9 shirt that Kylian Mbappe had last season.
Many Real Madrid legends have put on the legendary number 9 shirt of Real Madrid. And, now, it looks like a new name will be added to that list.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid will hand the iconic number 9 shirt to Gonzalo Garcia. The forward impressed Xabi Alonso in the Club World Cup.
Also, there were talks about the Spaniard leaving on loan. But, the Italian journalist confirmed that Garcia is set to stay and put on the iconic shirt that Kylian Mbappe wore in his first season at Madrid.
